This is a total endorsement for Pillsbury Grands! Southern Style frozen biscuits. If you have never tried them, go buy a bag today! They are THE most delicious and scrumptious and eat-every-crumb-store-bought biscuit you could ever hope to add to your shopping list. (Be sure to douse each warm delight in butter and honey - YAH MAY!) Now here's the kicker: When you bake them, the directions on the package tell you: "Biscuit sides should touch for higher rising" and later under the Faster Bake Method: "Biscuits will not rise as high" if they are baked 2 inches apart. What a great spiritual lesson! Do you suppose that as humans we will rise higher when we are "touching" other humans, especially when the heat is on! My guess is Yes! But if you don't take my word for it, check out an article in Psychology Today entitled: "The Power of Touch." I scanned the first couple of chapters of Genesis looking for that contact point between God and mankind. Often we think of God breathing and speaking life into existence, but let's ponder his touching life into existence also. Check it out: "Then the LORD God formed man of dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being" (Gen. 2:7). The Hebrew verb "form" means to fashion, to frame as in squeezing into shape. Touching shapes and prepares for life. And what we might give to look at Christ, let alone touch Him. Do you remember the woman who had been ill for so long with the issue of bleeding? She sought Jesus amidst a crowd and had the unheard of faith to think, "If I just touch His garments, I will get well" (Mark 5:25-34). In other words, many saw that Jesus healed by His touch. This gal believed that by getting close enough to touch what He was wearing would bring healing to her as well. Touch brings healing. To dig a little deeper on this type of healing touch, we'll find it means to fasten to, adhere to, to fasten fire to a thing, kindle, set fire. When God touches us, He brings life and health. His touch sets our hearts ablaze. In a small way, we can do the same for others, but we have to go close enough to touch them. So tell me, whose side are you touching? Who can you hoist up today? Guaranteed or your money back: When we touch, we'll both rise higher. And they were bringing even their babies to Him so that He would touch them, but when the disciples saw it, they began rebuking them. But Jesus called for them, saying, "Permit the children to come to Me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. "Truly I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child will not enter it at all." (Luke 18:15-17) Comments are closed.
