 Clothes.......grrr........ Some days I just don't know what to wear! Seems like I prefer some season's clothing over the typical attire for other seasons. Are you that way, too? Transitional clothing between seasons can also be tricky. And aren't there rules about wearing white? How long can I wear flip-flops? Do I need to change accessories, also? Bottom line: I do so much better if I am intentional about what I am going to wear each day (especially to work) instead of trying to throw something together at the last minute. If I am wise, I lay all my garments out the night before.  The effort to "cloak" myself in a spiritual sense is no different. Did you know that the Bible references what we should put on and clothe ourselves with? Just like choosing which clothes to wear, I also have the freedom to choose my thoughts and attitudes spiritually speaking. I can put on:
In some cases, the admonishment to "put on" means to "sink into clothing." I've been racking my brain as to how I "sink into" my clothes. (I can barely squeeze into some articles as it is!)  I explored what this meant and discovered that it can mean "to realize or understand something" (Let that sink in! -- ha ha), and "put on" also means "to be covered or absorbed". Now we're on to something. What a beautiful picture it is to really know Christ and to be completely immersed into all of who He is.  What does this mean practically speaking? Well, if I am so absorbed with Christ, when I am squeezed, He will come out. It might mean that I hold my tongue, give someone else my spot, or let them go first. It may mean that if I'm overlooked, I release my right to get what I deserve. It may mean I make it my goal to listen instead of to respond. Wearing these spiritual "articles of clothing" may indicate that I can walk in strength to face the battles before me. I can enter each day fully armed and ready to declare God's Truths over my life and situation.  Oh! And these items are Not seasonal! They are meant to be worn daily. And it gets better! They are Free. You don't have to wait for a Kohl's 30% or a flyer from Target. You only need to choose what to wear and put the items on! Choose your mindsets. Choose your thoughts.
