Did you know there's a Bible verse that pleads with God to put a guard over our mouths and to keep watch over the door of our lips? (Psa. 141:3) Boy, do I ever need that kinda support! And not just one guard. Heck. A whole army would be much better! We might as well call in the troops! Our words are so powerful, and when we get to the point of actually speaking what we are thinking, we bring REALITY to those words and thoughts as they usher in life or death. So, of course, we want to exercise caution. But. It's. Hard. Fortunately for us BRAIN CHANGERS, we've got a good shot at not letting those rogue thoughts escape our lips if we learn and practice the art of taking thoughts captive. We learn to stop them in their tracks! Further, we can actually turbocharge our tongues with a whole lot of praise and thanksgiving. We can also be sure to bless those we love by speaking encouraging words of affirmation and validation over them and their circumstances.
I love how in Psalm 19:14, the word "meditation" actually means "resounding music." When we have a song in our hearts, it's much easier to express that song verbally. The lyrics just naturally tumble out and can be of tremendous benefit to all who hear. Simply put, that's my prayer for you and me: May what we think and muse over be pleasing first in God's sight and if spoken may these words be of sweet service to others.

Victoria I love the idea of 'turbocharging' our tongue! Not just defensively putting up a guard, but proactively preparing for the song and praise to come forth with power and speed! I will think of this when I am reading God's word, meditating on it and hiding it in my heart.
