The Answer to Every Question

      With a twinkle in her eye and a slight nod of her head, she said, "Well now.  That is an easy question.  'In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God'."

       "Why is that your favorite verse?"

     "Everything starts and stops here.  This is the answer for every question, the solution to every problem, the anchor to every doubt, and the hope for every heartache. 

    "Of course, we won't understand every momentary problem, injustice, and circumstance here on this earth. 

      "After all, the world's a scary place.  But if I can grab hold of this truth and settle in to its vastness, I will have found a good path on this journey.  This verse is enough for me.  It helps my mind to wage battle.  

      "I have learned to trust God by reminding myself that God was there in the beginning, and He is here in the meantime, and He will be there in the end.  Who am I to rise above Him?"

*Side note:  I had this conversation with my grandmother about a year before she died.  You should know that in her lifetime, she lost six of her ten children to death as well as two husbands.  Despite what would have utterly destroyed most of us, she never lost her faith.
