This was a new expression for me, and I just love the idea! I've heard of a "man cave," but now apparently there's a "she shed" and a "he shed." So....I'm curious, ladies...What's in your she shed? Do you have a little niche in your home where you surround yourself with things or reminders that mean the most to you? What are they? In my she shed, I have pictures of my kiddos and family members and a gazillion Scriptural verses and wall hangings. I also collect ceramic and glass pitchers and I have a few of those around. I have loads of books, small white boards, paints and brushes, scrap-booking supplies, and a vast array of every kind of colored pens, fine and fat markers, sharpies, dry erase markers, pencils, highlighters. I have my devotional and journals as well as my notebooks and texts from each institution where I teach. There are treasure boxes and hat boxes filled with photographs and notes from my children or tiny things made by tiny hands. I have a warming pad for my coffee mug and a foot massage beneath my desk, plus a comfy chair to sit in. There is an exercycle, hand weights and a jump rope... and of course my computer, the heartbeat of my work and ministry. And across my desktop shelves, a boatload of sticky notes dangle to remind me of really important thoughts and prayer requests. Some of my favs: But God. God is enough for my loved ones. I walk in love. My job duty: Parakaleo - encourager, comforter, strengthener and Didasko - teacher, instructor, explainer I don't have to - I get to. Love deeply and fervently. Today is a beautify day. Our she sheds say a lot about us. (Whoosh, that's a tongue twister!) It is so important that we find a warm and welcoming place, a sanctuary of sorts, a carved-out place that we just call our own. Everyone needs a collection, something that identifies us and makes us unique to go into our she shed. I collect three things: Scriptural wall hangings, pitchers, and sheep (the nonliving kind). I want to walk around to every room in my house (not just my she shed) and be reminded of God's Truths. The pitchers represent that I can only be filled with the Spirit when I am first emptied of myself. And I enjoy collecting sheep to remind me I am one, and I have a wonderful Shepherd who looks after me. So tell me, what's in your she shed? If you don't have one, consider creating one, a little sanctuary, a breathing space just for you. This is your de-tox, de-stress, de-life room where you can be creative, do nothing, sit still, jump around, listen to music, pray, cry, count your blessings, talk, work if you want...you name it. Make it your personalized comfy, cozy, chocolate-y get-away room just for you. And let's not forget that in my cozy room is a little creature name Rico the MorKY. I'm so extremely grateful for this 4 1/2 pound wriggly ball of energy and L.O.V.E. Comments are closed.
