![]() Sacred. That's what I call it. It was only a few hours in time. They sat upon the leather sofas, shoes off, with bellies beginning to rumble. The ceiling fan gently blew and a phone would occassionally hum. Pillows, flip-flops, books, cracker wrappers, cords, cups, and controllers dotted the hard-wood floor. ![]() I had somewhere else to be, but I could not make myself leave. I was positively captured, delightfully imprisoned by their presence, their faces, their voices, their laughter, their time. I looked at each of them very slowly, one-by-one, carefully examining their features, drinking in their ways, while countless tears billowed down my heart. One moment in time where joy wells up, spills over, and floods our souls with the essence of what is most important in our lives: Relationships. ![]() My entire worldview is built upon relationships. First a relationship with my heavenly Father, His Son, and the Spirit. A holy Trinity of persons who created and modeled relationship among themselves from the very beginning of physical existence. Second, I have relationships with others and a mindset that my job is to serve them, put them first always, honor them, and love them. Anyone can love anyone else--most of us have otherwise intrinsic humanitarian desires. But if we make it our goal to love others more than we love Christ, we are bound for a love that keeps us and our good works (as well as our needs) at center screen. ![]() When we "treasure things" (Luke 2:19 and 2:51) in our hearts, we preserve them deeply within our souls but aim to keep them close in mind lest we forget them. God offers us a relationship that will spiritually transform our hearts. Once transformed, we offer our family and friends, (and enemies) a relationship that ought to reflect the relationship we have with Christ. We love because He loved us first (1 John 4:19). Because God values relationships above all other things, so ought we. ![]() Three boys and their mama in one room with the sun sweetly nestling itself into its western home: Sacred. No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son,
