![]() I heard her whisper to him, "I had a dream about you last night." [beginning of dream] We seemed to be at the old house, yet I didn't recognize any part of it really. There were so many folks milling about...lots of voices...noises.... Folks were intent on productivity and renovation. Everyone seemed to have a job. I do not remember seeing anyone's face but yours. I felt a bit more tentative, wondering, Should I really be here? Your mama wanted me there. She told me the certificate you had given me (the one matted with a metallic frame) was far superior than the ones you had given to the others. Referring to the flooding that had occurred in the old house, I heard you tell your mom, "I hate rain." You seemed a bit excited, however, about all the fixing up and relieved by the fact that even if it rained, there would be no more flooding. After so many years of flooding, finally the house would be fixed properly at foundation. You gave everyone a job. Everybody except me. I kept looking at you in expectation, but you would quickly glance away. After several listless moments, I motioned to leave. Then you caught my eye, and said, "Please clean the ...." In my excitement, I eagerly jumped up to search for the notebook. I thought you told me to take care of the notebook. I reasoned that the notebook would tell me what to do. Perhaps there was a checklist. I looked everywhere, high and low, for the notebook. I so desired to do my job well for you, and I was eager to get started. I walked back toward your mom to inquire about the notebook. I believe it was she who told me that you didn't say "notebook" but rather "fountain." "Clean the fountain," she repeated. The fountain? But we are inside a house, I puzzled. What kind of fountain? She pointed me to a drinking fountain (just like the ones found in any public place). I remember thinking the fountain must have been placed there for the workers. I grabbed a cloth, the spray bottle, and I began to clean the fountain. [end of dream] As they make music they will sing,
