On Being Thankful

When I ...
Awaken in the morning, may I thank the One who opens the eyes of the blind.
Begin to stir, may I give thanks to God who frees those who are bound.
Sit up, may I thank the One who lifts those who are low.
Stand upright, may I thank God for raising those who are bowed down.
Step upon the ground, may I thank Him for giving us earth upon which to walk.
Get dressed, may I give thanks to the One who clothes the naked.
Put on my shoes, may I thank the One who supplies me with every want.
Walk, may I thank God for making my steps firm.
Wash my hands and face, may I thank Him for bestowing upon me His loving-kindness.
Nourish my body, may I praise the One who brought bread from the earth and fruit from the trees.

Hear good tidings and joy, may I remember the One who is good.

Return to my house, may I thank Him for establishing my home in heaven.
