Now that's worth repeating. "If the horse is dead, dismount." I heard this one-liner recently while listening to Joyce Meyers.
It caused me first to laugh and then a second later to soberly consider: Am I riding a dead horse?
Some of us have a hard time admitting the horse is dead. We're convinced that if we kick a little harder, we can spur our stallion on.
But unlike the intriguing classification in the Princess Bride, even "mostly dead" (when it comes to horses) is as good as completely d-e-a-d.
Dismounting might not be easy. Heck, you might even cry. But, friend, one thing is sure: the horse is dead.
I'm sorry. You're sorry. The world might even be sorry. But no matter. The horse is dead. Time to dismount.
Don't look back.
