Holding on the phone is one thing. Waiting for God to "rescue" us from an ongoing, sticky situation a different ballgame.
In Psalm 6, David eloquently describes himself as he waits. He feels faint. His bones ache and his eyes are weak and failing. His soul is anguished. He's worn out with groaning and crying all day long.

The key to waiting is to focus on the EXPECTED ETERNAL REWARD.
Yeah, I know. It's a hard sell. Yet scientific studies even suggest this is the key to help us endure any number of trying scenarios.
As we wait, we trust God, release the outcome, and know that He will take care of things in His good timing. This perspective promotes a healthier, more optimistic outlook and gives us strength to withstand prolonged discomfort.
We can also rest assured that God hears our weeping and our cries for mercy. He accepts our prayers as pleasing to Him.
The above highlight reel is from episode 145 of the Choose 2 Think Inspirational Podcast and encourages us to shift the object of our waiting and longing (by Chelsea Sobolik).
