l know that patience is a virtue. Yet, there are degrees of waiting. I mean--waiting in line is one thing. Waiting for healing is quite another. Watching the clock for a kid to come home is one thing. Waiting for his salvation is another. Holding on the phone is one thing. Waiting for God to "rescue" us from an ongoing, sticky situation a different ballgame. In Psalm 6, David eloquently describes himself as he waits. He feels faint. His bones ache and his eyes are weak and failing. His soul is anguished. He's worn out with groaning and crying all day long. Ever been there? Yet scientific studies even suggest this is the key to help us endure any number of trying scenarios. As we wait, we trust God, release the outcome, and know that He will take care of things in His good timing. This perspective promotes a healthier, more optimistic outlook and gives us strength to withstand prolonged discomfort. We can also rest assured that God hears our weeping and our cries for mercy. He accepts our prayers as pleasing to Him.
