When I received the results of my annual blood test, I stood in amazement reading the results. I've battled high cholesterol on and off for YEARS. The composite number seemed to linger year after year between 210 and 250. When 189 jumped off the page, I thought, How? What have I been doing differently?
Here are my 100% very unscientific conclusions!
1 INCREASED WATER INTAKE
My daughter Elaine is my hero! She consumes a gallon of water a day! She uses this amazing and motivating, say wha?! Giotto water bottle (on my list now)! I'm only up to half a gallon myself - but I hope to catch her soon! And listen, this is coming from someone who really used to dislike the taste of water! Except for during restaurant visits and consumption during tennis, it was all I could do to drink the stuff. But as with most good habits, the more often you make that CHOICE, the easier it becomes. And I started small to develop my love for H2O. Just one 16 oz. bottle daily. When I mastered that consistently, I went to 32 ounces. Here's my Contigo bottle that I LOVE. I'm doing 2 of these daily now for my half gallon, and I'm about to increase to 3 daily. My kiddos bought me this water filter to help with the taste!
Jordan T. Hall -- lawyer, realtor, dad, author, blogger, home improvement guy -- shares his top 3 tips on exactly HOW to graduate from college with zero debt. These are practical applications any college bound individual will want to consider and put into play as highlighted in his book Every Degree Debt Free - click link below.
But this episode is not just for prospective college students. Jordan and I also chat about the mindset of DECIDING. Or we might call it resolve and determination. As a believer we also discuss the concepts of Time, Talent, and Treasure and how everything we do, everything we put our hands and our minds to, we can do to the glory of God.
And listen, Jordan shares a personal story toward the end of the show that will drop your jaw! It’s about a huge wad of cash and a riding lawn mower. Tune in today! to the CHOOSE 2 THINK PODCAST?! Be encouraged and learn a little something while you clean! :) Yes! This is EXACTLY how I feel on some days!!! I'm like: Who stole my body and mind? Where's my energy?! And don't worry! I'm all about slowing down and smelling the roses. You know, being present in life! And I truly value hard word, accomplishments, and all the fruit! But...there are days when I feel like this dude on the tree limb. So I'm in this 36-day DECLUTTERING challenge (that I created for crying out loud!) that is about to have my hiney! (How we say it in Kentucky.) It's giving me a good run on my THOUGHTS! And, whoosh, that's my ministry, right?! To cut things short since we both have things to do!!!! -- I've discovered 3 things that might just help you when you're just feeling.... for lack of better word...MEH. These action items might just help you turn procrastination into productivity. Let's goooooo. (PSSSTTT.... try a cup of coffee or a diet coke - that might just offer you a nice perk, too!) Am I right or am I right? THE 3 A'S TO FIGHT PROCRASTINATION____________
1) ACCOUNTABILITY. Get an accountability team! Find someone who's in this with you! It's a whole lot more fun when you're toiling with a buddy or two. It'll kick your motivation into higher gear. 2) ACTION. Overcome inertia with action. Remember that the motivation really comes AFTER the action. Too often, we think we have to be motivated before we act. False. Start the action and just watch motivation arise. And by the way, do NOT dialogue with yourself about whether you should clean out that closet or run the errand. Just do it! No discussion. Choose NOT to think to much about this chore! 3) ASKING. Ask God to help! Yeah, we wanna include Him in everything really. He even cares about the small stuff in our lives. We may just need a high dose of worship music or some great podcast (uh hum....C2T, anybody?!) or an audio book to have running in the background while we work. You can also ask a FRIEND for help! There ya have it. Find a work partner, get moving, and ask for help! That's it! Let's do it, friend!!! :) I cannot think of a better time to throw your windows open and enjoy the fresh breeze and sunshine! It's a wonderful time for projects and completing that list of to-do items. And if you're like me, a little boost to get you going might be helpful!
