I'm thrilled to introduce you to six amazing friends!
Recently I asked them this question: What is one toxic thought, belief, lie, self-limiting thought that you have struggled with in your life? I went a bit further and asked them to answer this question in 90 seconds or less! What would YOU say?!! These remarkable individuals blew me away with their responses! It made me realize that we all fight different battles in life, yet we are given the same arsenal from which to wage war: God's Mighty & Powerful Word. Let me tell you a bit more about each of these courageous and kind individuals.
It's no wonder that the topic they addressed in their brief audio clip runs parallel with their mission and calling. Can you relate to what they shared? Let me introduce each of them now. I'm from Kentucky -- you know -- where we bleed blue.
Kentucky, after all, means fried chicken, horses, and, of course, BASKETBALL! There's one particular offensive move in basketball that I use a lot figuratively in the battlefield of my mind as a powerful strategy to help me CHOOSE 2 THINK. It can help you just as well to enjoy living daily with a renewed mind! It's the PIVOT. In basketball a pivot helps a player:
But how does PIVOTING help with your thoughts in the day-to-day of it all? In an attempt not to let Covid become the center of my attention or impact my mindset and attitudes these days, I've been practicing what I call a MINDSET SWITCH.
There was a day not too long ago when I found myself wearing the dratted "COVID CLOAK" -- Let's just say this cloak is heavy and quite uncomfortable. It really doesn't fit me well at all. With God's help, I became determined to exchange this clunky Covid Cloak (or mindset) for a garment of PRAISE, THANKSGIVING, and REJOICING! It's a relatively simple strategy I can employ when I feel overwhelmed or aggravated with all things Covid. It's not just mind-over-matter or positive thinking, but rather it's a practical, God-honoring approach that you and I both can take during these trying times! I started asking myself a series of questions that propelled me into a higher gear and fueled my purpose and calling. I've found renewed energy and joy--even during this season of Covid--and you can, too! These are the 18 QUESTIONS I ask myself regularly AND have used for a few journal prompts:
Adoption.
Join me on the Choose 2 Think Podcast to listen to Christine (and her husband David's) journey through the long and winding road of international adoption. We cozy up and talk process, the ups-and-downs, and the dreaded but unavoidable waiting. Christine is so personable and speaks straight from her heart. Her story has a wonderful and miraculous ending that you don't want to miss. Be sure to subscribe wherever you listen. But there's more! *November is National Adoption Month and was launched by the US Department of Health and Human Services / Children's Bureau "with the goal to increase national awareness of the need for permanent families for children and youth in the U.S. foster care system."
If you're like I am, you probably know quite a few families who have adopted -- or maybe you are one! Many have gone overseas, whereas as others adopt domestically or foster in order to adopt. The road to adoption can be a bit bumpy for most folks and may be filled with ditches, detours, and dead ends. Thank goodness, we have God on our sides in this endeavor! |
