She is a native of Hazel Crest, IL. She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Iowa in journalism. After receiving her B.A., Jocelyn worked for channel 20, WYCC. She left the television industry to work at the ARK of St. Sabina, where she served for eleven years; eight of which were in the role of Executive Director. While working at the ARK, Jocelyn earned her master’s degree from the University of Chicago in social work.

After accepting her call to ministry, she went on to complete her master's degree in theological studies from McCormick Theological Seminary. Jocelyn is an ordained minister and the founder of Faith on the Journey, a company committed to showing the world that God's word has the power to heal.
